In this series I have photographed individuals and chosen items of sentimental value. I chose to photograph these individuals because they are friends and co-workers. It gave me a deeper understanding of who they are as individuals..
This project began when I came across some double exposure photography online and became inspired. Most of the images I found online were taken in camera. My main inspiration came from two photographers. Sarah K. Byrne’s double exposure portraits involve silhouettes and photographs of nature. The use of color of the flowers, trees made her images interesting and quite beautiful. Dan Mountford was another photographer who inspired me in this area. His photographs incorporated nature, landscape, and buildings. One of his images stood out to me; he used cigarettes for his second exposure. This led me to the idea of using objects instead of nature.
Here are the images I created and hope to continue with this project in the near future. There are quotes that go along with each image but I have omitted them for now.
